We are living in extraordinary times. The COVID-19 Coronavirus has wreaked havoc across the landscape. With empty store shelves, a constant barrage of news stories, the disruption of schools, sports, concerts, gatherings, work places, businesses, plus all of the personal changes we’ve all had to make in the past week or so, it is hard to imagine that we’ll be able to get back to our normal lives. We will, and perhaps we’ll be better knowing that some of the sacrifices we’ve made and the things we’ve done have helped someone else keep from getting sick, or even kept them from dying from the effects of this disease. This should not be about an individual, or a “me”, and the inconveniences we may have to deal with, this is about us… ALL of us, banding together, making changes and sacrifices to help our collective communities of families, friends, co-workers and fellow humans.
COVID-19 is affecting us here at Rich’s, too. First, if you have not already heard, Record Store Day, 2020 has been postponed. Originally planned for Saturday, April the 18th, the Record Store Day folks made the decision to change the date in light of the current COVID-19 situation and help support the measures being taken to keep people healthy. The new date for Record Store Day will be Saturday, June 20th. At Rich’s, we put in one of the largest RSD orders we’ve ever made as the releases this year are outstanding and we had a lot of requests. We fully expect the day to be a lot of fun for everyone, just a little later than usual.
We will continue to be open at our store (unless we are forced to do otherwise due to circumstances outside of our control). Music is important, makes us feel better, soothes our minds, and has healing properties. We want to do what we can to keep going through tough times, because you may need a shot of music now more than ever! Not only do we have lots of music, but the way to make it sound amazing in your home. And if you’re not feeling well or quarantined and need to stay home, don’t forget that you can shop with us online any time right here at www.richsrecordemporium.com . If you don’t see something you’re looking for online, drop us a note via our contact page or give us a call and we’ll do our best to get what you’re looking for.
We’re also taking some steps at the store to keep you safe and healthy. We’re dong some extra cleaning, disinfecting surfaces, and we have hand sanitizer out for all to use. We also want to support the World Health Organization’s “Do the Five” campaign to help stop the Coronavirus:
1HANDS Wash them often
2ELBOW Cough into it
3FACE Don’t touch it
4FEET Stay more than 3ft apart
5FEEL sick? Stay home
We are hopeful that things will return to normal as soon as possible. We’ll do our best to be patient and decent to all of our patrons, and to continue to serve our customers with care, dignity, and the best service we can. We thank you for being a part of our family and supporting small business. We’ll get through this together.
