Equipment Blog

The record “Emporium” as the name suggests is more than just records. We carry a great selection of equipment and accessories associated to vinyl, as well as personal audio stuff, such as record cleaning machines, new stylus or cartridges, tonearms, turntables, & vinyl “tweeks.” Also, personal listening gear such as ear buds/phones, DAC’s, amps, and a nice seclection of home Hi-Fi stereo equipment and speakers.

For those with older turntables, “See our website/Facebook page’ to get into one of our monthly “turntable” clinics to rejuvenate or tune-up that old vinyl spinner!

So this blog will serve to accomplish many things from record reviews (and CD reviews) for those who wish to own the genuine article, to equipment reviews to keep you up-to-date on all the latest stuff.

Rich's Record Emporium; Vinyl Record review, CD, radio KDHX favorite artistThis young guitar slinger has soul steeped in Blues-R&B-Soul&Rock n' Roll!

As you know my son Curt is a volunteer DJ at radio station KDHX in St. Louis. He is also in charge of posting and labeling new cd's that come into the station. As a result, he turns me on to a fine selection of new music.

The latest is a new cd(sorry, no vinyl at this time from "Bella Blue Records"), by the Nick Moss Band called Time Ain't Free. Nick Moss is a Chicago blues player that has been around for about 25 years and plays traditional Chicago blues. This cd contains 14 tracks and is 77 minutes long. My favorite cuts are Fare Thee Well, track 4, Ex Bree Zee, track 11 and Walkin' On a Ledge, track 12. The Nick Moss Band has a guitar player by the name of Michael Ledbetter whom I have never heard of. For those of you that like Hammond B-3's and guitar solos, you will especially like track 14 called (Big Mikes) Sweet Potato Pie. There's only one problem with this song - it's not long enough. Hopefully you can buy it from my store in vinyl one day, as this lable is associated with Alligator Records, but for now, available on CD or download only.
